Newest Green Vegetated Roof in town!
The house needed a lot of work. GreenTech's construction crew stripped it down to the structure and strengthened the skeleton of the building. We designed per current code and energy requirements, adding insulation in the new interior framed walls. New low-e, Energy Star windows and new insulated doors were installed for a tighter building envelope. Bamboo floors, Energy Star appliances, and No VOC paints were utilized to minimize energy... and irritants/ allergens. The modest sized home is clean and modern with window seats and a daylit study. The backyard is planned for native, edible and useful plants.
My favorite feature of the home is the Green Vegetated Roof. The system is composed of several layers including the waterproofing membrane, root barrier, moisture wicking layer, and the vegetated mats themselves. They are fully covered with small sedum plants and volcanic rocks. The plants are about 1/2 inch tall and will grow to 3- 4" high after their first growing
season. They were supplied by XeroFlor, the provider or material for the 10.5 acre vegetated green roof in the Michigan at Ford Motor Company. For more information about Xeroflor, check out their website at xeroflorusa.com
Here is a photo of the house under construction. We expect that the house will be ready for showing late next week. Keep on the lookout for updated photos!
